What should happen with IGF? Impressions from Nairobi by Christoph Steck, Telefonica

One of the main discussion issues - at the stage as well as in corridors - of the recent IGF meeting in Nairobi was the future of IGF and multistakeholder concept. While there several other places where the future of IGF will impacted from (UN through the new chief coordinator of IGF Secretariat, CSTD through suggested reforms of IGF), the IGF itself is certainly the best place to discuss its own future, right?

Impressions taken from various participants about what works and what not are a preciouss testimony and food for thought. Christoph Steck from Spanish/global telecom Telefonica, a regular participant of IGF meetings, brings his impressions and thoughts from Nairobi on two important issues: the importance of policy-making at regional/local level as the Internet policy "patchwork", and the need and possible future of multistakeholder approach within Internet policy process.
