Until wikileaks days, publicly admitted censorship was not that present in the west (while everyone who spent some time there could detect that some information were "omtted" if subject was on the verge of a local taboo). From the other point of net presence, one can detect censorship by geolocation even on "benign" sites like youtube (ever seen page on youtube saying: this content is not available in your region?). After fighting for such a long time for paradigm called "free speech" it looks almost as a nonsense to think that "freedom to be informed" is not included with it. You may be free to publish something, but do others will have right or freedom to read it?
