MAG renewal announced by the UN: follow up to Diplo's endorsement process

The United Nations has announced the renewal of the Multistakeholder Advisory Group (MAG) for the Internet Governance Forum (IGF). Congratulations to  the new MAG and everyone involved in the IGF process. Sincere appreciation to all outgoing MAG members, including Diplo associates Katitza Rodriguez and Fouad Bajwa

The Diplo Community endorsement process was important for this MAG selection, and we thank all of you who put thought into the your applications, your posts, and the community endorsement. Gracias!

We are especially proud of Diplo associates and alumni on the MAG: Carolina Aguerre, Quasi Al-Shatti, Olga Cavalli, Veronica Cretu, Anju Mangal, Judy Okite, Graciela Selaimen, Felix Samakande, Diop Diagne Ndeye Maimounaand, Vladimir Radunovic. Good luck to all of you!

The renewed MAG has a lot of work ahead, and they cannot do it alone: please be active in the IGF 12 process, which has already begun. Check out the latest news at www.intgovforum.org and plan to take part in the May planning meetings, in Geneva if you are lucky, but  through active online participation with the rest of us if you cannot be there in person.

Post your ideas, aspirations and thoughts about IGF 12 here--let's plan a strategy to make our wishes for the future Internet come true!

Dear Ginger, dear colleagues!

Warm greetings to you, congradulations and thanks to Diplo for its continuous support to its network members!

It is indeed important for the new MAG to think about longer-term perspective on IG and IGF.

There are new, emerging initiatives today such as Open Government Partnership which has been recently joined by more than 50 countries around the globe, and might be useful to look into it from the perspective of how a global initiative can be catalized at the level of each country and make Governments aware of the importance of the issues, and more than that, come up with Action Plans that envisage certain changes and improvements. I think MAG should be looking into new models of how IGF can further develop and grow efficiently and be recognized as an important global structure!

Hope to make it for Geneva!

With kindest thoughts,
as ever
