SUMMARY
This week, cyber geopolitics on Internet governance headlines as, US National Security Agency Director Mike Rogers rebuffed the prospect for a US-Russia cyber unit, saying now isn't the best time. Otherwise, According to reports, Mr Putin told Mr Trump during their G20 meeting that "Moscow’s cyber-operators are so good at covert computer-network operations that if they had infiltrated Democratic groups, there is no way they could have been detected". In addition, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson’s decision to close the State Department’s Office of the Coordinator for Cyber Issues and fold its responsibilities into the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs has provoked widespread criticism.
Furthemore, BRICS nations will step up cooperation on information security, as digital communication technology plays an increasingly important role in driving economic growth, ministers from the five countries said in a statement on Thursday.
Besides, concerns over spying by Beijing may force Australia to curb the Solomon Islands’ plans for stable internet access, after the small Pacific nation hired a Chinese company to lay an undersea cable connected to Sydney, Australian media reported
On data protection, European Union authorities have increased pressure on Facebook, Twitter and Google to amend their user terms to bring them in line with EU law after proposals submitted by the tech giants were considered insufficient.
On e-commerce, Alibaba founder and executive chairman Jack Ma announced the creation of a US$10 million African Young Entrepreneurs Fund, during the Youth Connekt Africa Summit co-hosted by UNCTAD and the Government of Rwanda.

Cette semaine, la cyberpolitique revient à la UNE des titres sur la gouvernance de l'Internet. En effet, le directeur de l'Agence de Sécurité Nationale des États-Unis, Mike Rogers, a rejeté la perspective de création d'une unité cybernétique américaino-Russie. Au demeurant, M. Poutine a déclaré à M. Trump lors de leur réunion du G20 que "les cyber-opérateurs de Moscou sont si bons dans les opérations de réseau informatique que, s'ils avaient infiltré le parti des Démocrates, il n'y avait aucun moyen qu'ils aient pu être détectés". En outre, la décision du secrétaire d'État Rex Tillerson de clore le bureau du Coordonnateur des questions cybernétiques du Département d'Etat et de confier ses responsabilités au Bureau des affaires économiques et commerciales a provoqué de multiples critiques.
En outre, les pays des BRICS intensifieront la coopération en matière de sécurité de l'information, car les technologies de la communication numérique jouent un rôle de plus en plus important dans la croissance économique, ont déclaré les ministres des cinq pays dans un communiqué jeudi.
En plus, les accusations d'espionnage de la Chine peuvent forcer l'Australie à freiner les plans des îles Salomon pour un accès Internet stable, après que la petite nation du Pacifique ait embauché une société chinoise pour mettre un câble sous-marin connecté à Sydney, signalent les médias australiens
En ce qui concerne la protection des données, les autorités de l'Union européenne ont fait pression sur Facebook, Twitter et Google pour modifier leurs conditions d'utilisation afin de les aligner sur le droit de l'UE après que les propositions présentées par les géants technologiques ont été jugées insuffisantes.
En ce qui concerne la neutralité du net, le président du comité de l'énergie et du commerce des États-Unis, M. Greg Walden, a invité les PDG des grandes entreprises de technologie et de télécommunication à témoigner devant le Congrès au sujet de la neutralité du net lors d'une audience prévue pour septembre.
Sur le cryptage, l'Australie est devenue le premier pays à proposer de nouvelles lois qui obligent les entreprises technologiques, comme Apple et Facebook, à aider la police à décoder les messages chiffrés dans les enquêtes criminelles ou terroristes.
Sur le commerce électronique, le fondateur d'Alibaba et le président exécutif Jack Ma ont annoncé la création d'un Fonds africain pour les jeunes entrepreneurs d'un montant de 10 millions de dollars américains, lors du sommet Youth Connekt Africa co-organisé par la CNUCED et le Gouvernement rwandais.
Sur l'intelligence artificielle, deux des plus grands titans de technologie de Silicon Valley ont débattu publiquement du potentiel de l'intelligence artificielle cette semaine: Mark Zuckerberg est optimiste contrairement à Elon Musk.
