En visite au Sénégal  les 05, 06 et 07 Mars 2015, Pierre Dandjinou Vice-président ICANN pour l’Afrique a donné une conférence à Dakar le 06 Mars sur le thème de la transition des fonctions de l’IANA. Devant des représentants de la société civile, du secteur privé, du gouvernement, des acteurs des TICs  et du monde des Affaires ; M. Dandjinou a rappelé l’origine de la transition qui remonte au 14 Mars 2014 quand l’Agence Nationale des Télécommunications et de l’Information des États-Unis…

2014 a vu le débat sur la gouvernance internet monté en puissance suite aux révélations d’Edward SNOWDEN sur la surveillance de masse. Deux sujets majeurs ont marqué la gouvernance internet durant la période : la tenue de la conférence Netmundial en Avril 2014 au Brésil et le lancement du processus et des débats sur le transfert du rôle de supervision de la NTIA sur les fonctions IANA coordonnée par la Société pour l’attribution des noms de domaines et des numéros sur internet…

Le multilinguisme est au cœur du débat sur la gouvernance d’internet. Le sujet a été évoqué  lors de la 9ème édition du Forum sur la Gouvernance d’Internet qui a eu lieu à Istanbul du 1^er au 5 Septembre 2014 sous le thème « Languages on the Move : Deploying Multilingualism in the Net »
