Profile Information

Did you take the Internet Governance Capacity Building Programme - IGCBP from DiploFoundation? If so, in which year? Who was tutoring you?
2007 - Marsha
What are you currently doing today and projects you have related to Internet governance?
I have concluded a Masters in Latin American Integration. My research analyzed how ICTs can be used to enhance social participation in Integration processes, such as EU and Mercosur.
In 2008 I have been a tutor in the IGCBP, both in the foundation phase and the research phase.
I am also involved with other Diplo colleagues in several projects, such as the remote participation working group, which aims to foster long distance participation on the IGF, through the creation of local hubs. In the near future, I plan to carry on my research and pursuit a doctorate degree in the field of Law and Technology.
In which ways the capacity building provided by Diplo has helped you and your community in Internet governance issues? (Question only for IGCBP Alumni)
Thanks to Diplo's course and community support and to the research I developed, I have been invited as a speaker on several important academic events, such as the International Law Association annual conference and the Symposium Governance and the Law at McGill University.

I have also participated as a Diplo fellow on the 2007 Internet
Governance Forum, which gave me an inside perspective of the difficult and important process of building consensus in IG, as well as provided me with a view of emerging issues.

Do you want your community to participate in the IGF? Create a local Hub!

The IGF in Sharm-El-Sheikh is approaching fast. Some of us will travel there. Others will not. But staying in your home city does not mean that it is not possible to follow the debates. There will be channels for remote participation. People can follow the discussions from home, watching the webcast of the event and participating in chat. But it is also possible to organize IGF hubs.

What are the Hubs?

The hubs are local meetings that take place in… Continue

Important: webcast trial for Open Consultations Tomorrow 09/09 at 13:00 GMT

I forward an invitation from the IGF Secretariat.

As you know the next Open Consultations will take place on 16 and 17/09, in Geneva.

The Secretariat will be testing the webcast of the Open Consultations tomorrow (Wednesday, Sep. 09) throughout the day. They would like as many people as possible to connect at the same time, 13:00 GMT (15:00 Geneva time), so they will be able to test the robustness of the system.

Li seu artigo na publicação "capacity development" no IGF. Está ótimo, parabéns! Bom saber que estamos construindo inteligência nacional nessa área. Como gaúcho, também gostei de saber que você passou pelo RS, ao fazer mestrado na UFSM.
