Posting Rules

The Diplo Internet Governance community is an open and effective space for interaction among members and discussion around themes of Internet governance. The use of this platform shall observe principles of politeness and respect and common sense. In cases where decisions have to be made, the following posting rules will be observed, which are inspired from the Charter of the Internet Governance Caucus (http://www.igcaucus.org/charter):

Examples of good use:
* To inform on significant developments impacting on Internet governance policies.
* To anticipate, identify and address emerging issues in the areas of Internet governance and help shape issues and perspectives
* Connect with other members and promote projects related to Internet governance.

The messages must observe a minimum of decorum, including:
* refrain from personal attacks, insults or slander
* refrain from offensive or discriminating language
* refrain from threats , including threats of legal action, on list or off list
* refrain from excessive and repetitive posting

Inappropriate postings include:

* Unsolicited bulk e-mail
* Discussion of subjects unrelated to Internet governance and purposes of the community
* Unprofessional or discourteous commentary, regardless of the general subject
* Sequences of messages by one or more participants that cause the community to become a hostile environment
* Illegal content

Suspension of posting rights

Failure to abide by posting rules may result in suspension or removal from the community according to the following process:
* The administrators will first warn a member privately of the problem
* If the problem persists the administrators will notify the member of impending suspension from the network for one (1) month
* Once the member's posting rights are restored, any further problem will result in removal of the subscriber from the network
* Any decision for suspension can be appealed by an informal review board
