Event Description

Date, time and place:
13 September, 6.30pm-8pm, IGF Venue (Room 6)

Open for participation

The Internet Governance Forum isnʼt just taking place inside this conference centre: it’s also taking place across the world and across the Internet through remote participation and through informal social media networks. During the 2009 IGF in Sharm El Sheikh over 5000 twitter messages were sent, 100s of blog posts were written, and many video clips were recorded and published online. This year, many people will be using social media to talk about IGF and to widen participation. Some ways of exploring the use of social media at IGF 2010 are: “Listening” – tracking social media conversations on various IGF discussions; “Sharing” – contributing to social medial discussions via twitter, blogging and video clips; “Connecting & Discussing” – exploring how social media can complement face-to-face IGF discussions. Join in and help us explore how social media can add to IGF.

I look forward to meeting many of you at this session. A rough programme is below:

18:00 - 18:15 - Introduction to social reporting (Presentation).

18:15 - 18:45 - Hands on learning session (Bring laptops, mobile phones etc.) where we'll be exploring how to use different social reporting tools.

18:45 - 19:00 - Question and Answer - making the most of social reporting.

During the hands-on session I'm hoping we'll have opportunity for people to share their own skills with each other - as well as to introduce some of the core tools mentioned in the Social Reporters Handbook: http://igf2010.diplointernetgovernance.org/handbook
