First, let me say I did not stay for the entire session. Actually, it is very possible to have an IXP established in Vanuatu but there are some requirements that need to be met. You would have to check directly with your regional Internet Registry (I think you are APNIC) and then you would be able to take it from there! Take the 2 in the Netherland Antilles. These countries are not very large (population is under 100,000)

Marsha, this is a good workshop that clashed with workshop 230 thus, I didn't attend. I am very interested on how this system works. From what I have gathered, the exchange point could be placed anywhere meaning for example I could set up an exchange point for Vanuatu in Australia? However, I would rather choose to set up a local IXP instead because I think it would be very costly to have it in Australia and also because of the distance, that may lead to establishing an extra IXP?. I also share my support of having an IXP instead of signing more than 5 interconnect agreements and on the regulator's perspective making sure all the operators comply with their respective agreement....
