Stay networked. Get informed. Broadcast your projects.
I am currently a web reporter for an online website. We are called somehow "freelance", i think it's the right spelling. I've been writing since two years now and i can call myself a journalist because i am reporting on news, fresh news from the ground.
Again, i am running my own, personal blog where i post everything coming to my mind, my daily life and some special info that i want to give to the public. It's a newest one and non professional at all :). See my blog here. So i am also a blogger!
But i always ask myself what's the actual difference between a web journalist and a blogger? These words makes some confusion in my mind. I think both have the same role, writing and informing.
Here is what i think about it.
When blogging, you don't have to tell fresh news, breaking news or whatever. I think when blogging, you can relate your own stuffs, what you did your day long and inform your readers. It's something like socializing with your readers. As some social media, you are not allowed to post long texts, then you can use a blog to relate that.
A web journalist instead, will not talk about himself but he will be informing about what's going on around. He will be focused on their editorial line. For example with my org, Now AfriCAN, we are reporting about sucessful actions, activities currently taking place in Africa, trying to give a good image of Africa. We call people Heroes because they succeded in their currently work. The name of the organization speaks for itself : Now Africa CAN (Now AfriCAN).
I was aking a question and i am getting to answer myself :). But i would like to know your thoughts about this. Who is a blogger and who's a web journalist?
