Including Mobile Number Portability in Kenya Telco Business Models

According to Tom Makau, the existing telco business model in Kenya is under threat.

Despite the exponential growth of the mobile internet it has the potential to diminishing marginal returns on investments thus the need cleverly craft triple play bundles.  Additionally, the regulator is making the environment more difficult with other measures including declining termination fees, so with the only link to a mobile user right now being the mobile number.

Could increasing the contribution of mobile number portability in telco business models be the solution to almost accurate user profiling and developing tailored apps to overcome the threat of diminishing returns?

Kenya's largest mobile operator Safaricom discontinues unlimited internet.  This may support Tom Makau's claim that mobile internet is diminishing marginal returns for telcos in Kenya
