SUMMARY
This week, in Europe; leaders of France, Italy and the United Kingdom at the United nations urged social media companies on Wednesday to more swiftly remove “terrorist content” from the internet. The European Commission has outlined further details of its proposals to reinforce the EU's cybersecurity capacity a week after EC president Jean-Claude Junkcer announced plans to strengthen existing network security agency Enisa by creating a new 'European Cybersecurity Agency'. Uber’s application for a new licence in London has been rejected on the basis that the company is not a “fit and proper” private car hire operator. The European Commission said on Thursday it may seek to implement tax reform to raise more revenue from online giants.

"The Internet Society released this week the first-of-its-kind Global Internet Report, "Paths to our Digital Future," aimed at exploring the future of the Internet".

In China, "Islamophobic" terms used by Chinese internet users to stigmatise Muslims have been blocked by authorities to prevent bias against Islam, official media reported. Chinese search engine Baidu announced a 10bn yuan ($1.1bn) self-driving car fund on Thursday as part of a wider plan to speed up its technical development and compete with US rivals.

On domain name, the .cat Foundation, which manages .cat domain name was forced to block websites with informations on the referendum that the Catalan independence movement hopes to hold October 1.

On cyber geopolitics, Facebook announced on Thursday that it has turned over to Congress tens of thousands of ads from the social network believed to be linked to Russia‘s attempts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election. The government of Saudi Arabia has finally lifted the ban on services that offered access to call someone over the internet, which included apps like WhatsApp, Skype, FaceTime, and others.

On net neutrality, a group of Senate Democrats is asking the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to delay its effort to repeal the Obama-era net neutrality regulations.

On infrastructure, Microsoft, Facebook and global telecommunication infrastructure company Telxius today announced the completion of highest-capacity subsea cable to ever cross the Atlantic.

On artificial intelligence, Alphabet Inc.-owned self-driving car company Waymo wants rival Uber Technologies to pay up to $2.6 billion in damages over a single instance of alleged trade secret theft, Uber’s lawyers revealed in court yesterday.

Cette semaine, en Europe; Les dirigeants de la France, de l'Italie et du Royaume-Uni aux Nations Unies ont exhorté mercredi les entreprises de médias sociaux à supprimer plus rapidement les «contenus extrémistes» d'Internet. La Commission européenne a décrit plus en détail ses propositions visant à renforcer la capacité en cybersécurité de l'UE une semaine après que le président de la Commission Européenne, Jean-Claude Junkcer, a annoncé son intention de renforcer l'agence de sécurité existante Enisa en créant une nouvelle «Agence européenne de la cybersécurité». La demande d'Uber pour une nouvelle licence à Londres a été rejetée au motif que la société n'est pas un opérateur de location de voiture privé «convenable et approprié». La Commission européenne a déclaré jeudi qu'elle pourrait chercher à mettre en œuvre une réforme fiscale pour augmenter les taxes sur les géants en ligne.

Internet Society a publié cette semaine le premier rapport mondial de l'Internet intitulé «Chemins vers notre avenir numérique» visant à explorer l'avenir d'Internet.
En Chine, les termes "islamophobes" utilisés par les internautes chinois pour stigmatiser les musulmans ont été bloqués par les autorités pour prévenir les préjugés contre l'islam, selon les médias officiels. Le moteur de recherche chinois Baidu a annoncé jeudi un fonds de 10 milliards de yuans (1,1 milliard de dollars) dans le cadre d'un plan plus large visant à accélérer son développement technique et à rivaliser avec les rivaux américains.

Sur les nom de domaine, la Fondation .cat, qui gère le nom de domaine .cat, a été obligée de bloquer les sites Web contenant des informations sur le référendum que le mouvement d'indépendance catalan espère tenir le 1er octobre.

Sur la géopolitique cybernétique, Facebook a annoncé jeudi qu'il avait renvoyé au Congrès des dizaines de milliers d'annonces du réseau social qui étaient liées aux tentatives de la Russie d'interférer lors de l'élection présidentielle de 2016. Le gouvernement de l'Arabie saoudite a finalement levé l'interdiction des services qui bloquaient l'acces aux réseaux sociaux notamment des applications comme WhatsApp, Skype, FaceTime et d'autres.

En ce qui concerne la neutralité du net, un groupe de sénateurs démocrates demande à la Commission fédérale des communications (FCC) d'atténuer ses efforts pour abroger les règlements sur la neutralité du net.

Sur les infrastructures, Microsoft, Facebook et la société mondiale d'infrastructure de télécommunications Telxius ont annoncé aujourd'hui l'achèvement du câble sous-marin le plus grand traversant l'Atlantique.

En ce qui concerne l'intelligence artificielle, la société de Self-driving de Alphabet Inc., Waymo, veut que le rival Uber Technologies paie jusqu'à 2,6 milliards de dollars en dommages-intérêts suite au cas prétendu de vol de secret commercial, les avocats d'Uber ont révélé.
