[EuroDig Interview] Adela Danciu, Romania

Four quick questions with Diplo tutor Adela Danciu:

DIPLO IGCBP: Adela, please tell us what was the European Internet Governance Capacity Building Programme

ADELA: The European Capacity Development Programme in Internet Goverance was the first IG Capacity Building Programme organised by Diplo dedicated exclusively to the European space. It consisted of the foundation course offered by Diplo wihtin the IGCBP and an optional research phase, where participants elaborated 2 papers, one presenting an overview of the IG situation in their countries, following Diplo's methodology of dividing the issues into 5 baskets, and the other presenting a case study on a national IG policy issue.

DIPLO IGCBP: What can you tell about the participants?

ADELA: The programme gathered together 14 participants from around Europe who successfuly completed the course, most of which coming from Central and Eastern European countries. Their provenience together with the professional background provided a very interesting mix of experiences which developed into rich debates. It was a great opportunity for me as a tutor to assist the exchange of ideas and discussions of this group, because I've learned a lot from them.

DIPLO IGCBP: Tell us more about your professional and academic interests.

ADELA: Even though professionaly speaking I've shifted from the ICT field, my personal interest in IG remains constant - as my continuous collaboration with Diplo may prove ;). The Association for Technology and Internet where I'm an "old" member is an ICANN At-Large Structure since last year and I intend to get more involved into EURALO's activites as time will allow me. IG awareness in Romania remains quite low and we also try to develop some projects with local focus - hopefully we'll manage to secure funds to put them in practice.

DIPLO IGCBP: Any message that you would like to share with the European group coming to the EuroDig?

ADELA: Looking forward to meet you in person and keep up the good spirit! :)
