Beckstrom Advocates Multi-Stakeholderism for One World, One Internet

ICANN CEO, Rod Beckstrom stressed the importance of a Multi-Stakeholder Model for Internet Governance at IGF11.

He expressed his delight at this year’s theme “ Internet as a Catalyst for Change,” and offered that the Multi-Stakeholder model was an important Catalyst for the Internet itself. He attributed it for the Advancement:

• The Technology
• Standards
• Policy
• Global governance structures

Beckstrom thanked participants for being here to protect this model and stressed the need to keep Protecting Multi-Stakeholderism. In the end he linked this to his “One World and One Internet” theme. It will be interesting to see at this critical juncture in the history of IG, what views will unfold at IGF with regard to the optimum shape for IG. What will be the views towards Multi-Stakeholderism and how will it be defined?
