I would like to introduce everyone to a new book just released and published by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (Asia) in which I also wrote one chatper about social media in Thai news outlets.
The link is as follows: http://www.kas.de/medien-asien/en/publications/31322/
I invite you to take a look and welcome your comments!

Bruce, just read your chapter in the Social Media (R)Evolution book - thanks for sharing. It's interesting to analyse social media from a news agency/business perspective. Agree with you that there appears to be no direct revenue from social media (not immediate, at least), but this is partly because news agencies are battling with the fact that print media, and other media which traditionally relied on circulation and direct revenue, are on its way out. Finding alternative, new ways of replacing the revenue is not easy, and while SM is not THE answer, it does not mean it should be sidelined. On the contrary, SM is not only important per se, but extremely useful in many indirect ways. To mention a few examples: establishing an online reputation and focusing on engagement helps to attract advertisers, and encourage readers/users to subscribe to paid services. Interesting (and challenging) times ahead!
