I believe some of you might want to read this:

Excerpt: Net neutrality is difficult to define and enforce, and efforts to do so merely address the symptom (concern about discrimination) rather than the underlying cause (lack of competition). Rivalry between access providers offers the best protection against the erection of new barriers to the flow of information onlin…

A new website focusing on Internet Governance is online since yesterday -
www.igf.ro. It is the first website entirely dedicated to this topic in Romania and it aims at informing and raising awareness among the Romanian Internet community about the issues debated in IG context, in their own language.
For the moment it is maintained and updated in collaboration with my friend and fellow Diplo alumnus…

A few years ago, intellectual property offices were trying to find a round-about to patent open source software. In the opposite direction, open source software leaders were fighting this initiative on claims that open source software came to life as a means to provide free and innovative software to all. Many of the software giants (such as Microsoft) had fears that open source software will eventually prevail, thus causing their pitfall (…

Last year over 5000 tweets were posted about IGF. This year I suspect the number will be a lot higher. Add to that all the blog posts, photos, video clips and other social media content - and working out what was going on can be a bit of a challenge.
Of course, the reason we can tell there were 5000 or so tweets about IGF is that's how many included the #igf09 hash-tag that divided IGF tweets from the thousands and millions of others posted during the time of IGF in Sharm El

IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6) is the successor to IPv4, which is the current IP protocol version used on the Internet. As the Internet becomes more widely used, the IPv4 address space is likely to be
exhausted some time early in this century. IPv6, however, can eliminate
this address exhaustion problem. IPv6 address space is 128-bit and is
much wider than IPv4 address space. Another feature of IPv6 is that
security and automatic network set-up technologies are support

Well its getting normal it seems in different countries that it seems open access has to have its own limits, does it really have to have its own limits? Why do we have to have access to all kind of content, sites or platforms? why is it that in certain cases be it in schools, work place certain access are restricted? Why is it we have to be culturally sensitive as responsible citizens of the digital world in what we publish in public domains?
I totally belief we are the best advocates…

As we all know, A2K comes in many forms. You can have FLOSS (Free Libre Open Source Software) licensed under GPL, you can have digital libraries that are free access, you can interact in OER systems... amongst others. All forms mentioned above are related to the Internet. There are other initiatives - such as physical libraries - that I will not talk about.
In terms of FLOSS,
software categorizes under it is usually free of charge. Organizations main…

(My two cents' worth of thoughts on the proposal)What's good about the Google-Verizon proposal (and who's to benefit)?- From a corporate perspective, it creates a new competitive environment for companies wishing to innovate and expand.
- A "private" network void of FCC and FTC (to a great extent) regulations may sound very attractive
- It strengthens the role of big commercial players

On August 5, 2010, the ICANN Board approved - at their Board retreat - Jordan's IDN ccTLD delegation request under .الاردن (al-ordon in Arabic). This is a huge step forward in increasing Internet penetration in Jordan which currently stands at 30%. Jordan's Ministry of ICT is targeting a 50% penetration by the end of 2011, and we hope our IDN ccTLD can play a major role in that. The ICANN board approval resolution reads the following:
