Profile Information

Did you take the Internet Governance Capacity Building Programme - IGCBP from DiploFoundation? If so, in which year? Who was tutoring you?
2005 - Present
Where did you ¨discover¨ this Community portal?
From Seitii and other Diplo collegues
What are you currently doing today and projects you have related to Internet governance?
Am an expert adviser to Diplo's Internet Governance Capacity building course since 2005.

I currently head a Global Internet Freedom Initiative. The initiative aims to analyze the state of internet freedom, to increase participation of internet users in Internet Governance policy discussions, to advocate for freedom of expression on the internet, to expand the use of anti-censorship technologies, to build support networks for citizens fighting against online repression and to focus greater international attention on the growing threats to users’ rights.

I am also one of the founding directors of Privaterra, an NGO that that provides technical training on issues of data privacy, secure communications, information security, Internet Governance and internet Freedom. I am often invited to speak at events to share the challenges being faced by social justice organizations in regards to surveillance, censorship and privacy.

I was actively involved in the the UN World Summit - being an active member of civil society bureau, the internet governance caucus as well as being the NGO adviser to the official Canadian Government delegation.

I advise numerous non-profits, foundations and international organizations, including Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility (CPSR), Taking IT Global, DiploFoundation's Internet Governance and Policy Capacity Building Programme, The Open Net Initiative and The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers's At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC) and its Security and Stability Advisory Committee - to name a few
Please list the names of organizations you are a member of, including hyperlinks for more information when possible.
