As a Systems/Network Administrator in a university, I am involved in Infrastructure and Critical Internet resources issues. I have also been a Free and Open Source advocate within the university community. I have been educating students and colleagues on the need to stop using pirated software and go in for free and open source alternatives.

We are a generation that depends so much on the Internet. Many of us cannot live without it (just like electricity :) ). BUT do we know what is involved when it comes to Internet usage? Is there a difference between one's life online and offline? What information should or should I not put on a social network site like Facebook? The list goes on and on.

IGF 2009 - Day 1 - Workshop 276 - Assessing the role of the participative web in Youith Empowerment: a regional outlook

Yamout, Salam talked about Partnership for Lebanon, an organisation formed by Cisco Systems, Microsoft, Intel, Ghafari and Occidental Petroleum. This is a very good example of public-private partnerships (PPP).

The 5 key areas of the partnership are Connected Communities, Workforce Training, Job Creation/Private Sector Revival, ICT Infrastructure and Relief and Response.
