Profile Information

Did you take the Internet Governance Capacity Building Programme - IGCBP from DiploFoundation? If so, in which year? Who was tutoring you?
Yes, in 2005. My tutor was Andrei Mikheyev from Russia, an inspiring and knowledgeable expert on internet governance.
Where did you ¨discover¨ this Community portal?
Since 2005, I became passionate about DiploFoundation and its innovative approach. Using social media and communication strategies, I developed this network with advice from my friend Sheraan Amod, founder of Personera and a social media evangelist
What are you currently doing today and projects you have related to Internet governance?
The best way to contact me is by sending a message here at the Diplo Community.

If you prefer Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/seiitiarata

Also, you can find me here http://br.linkedin.com/in/seiiti
In which ways the capacity building provided by Diplo has helped you and your community in Internet governance issues? (Question only for IGCBP Alumni)
Today I focus on the use of social media and communication strategies to leverage results for organizations. This is what I did for DiploFoundation with the creation of this Community at the Ning platform.

During the IGF 2009 in Sharm El Sheikh I have worked on the social media strategy, focusing on social networking (Facebook - www.facebook.com/intgovforum ), microblogging (Twitter - www.twitter.com/intgovforum ), photos (Flickr - http://www.flickr.com/groups/1062424@N22/ ) and video (YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/igf )

If you would like me to help in your activities and projects, let me know and I will be happy to volunteer to design and implement a social media strategy that meets your community culture and achieves the desired outcomes fast and effective.
Please list the names of organizations you are a member of, including hyperlinks for more information when possible.

Why we need diplomats

This is a question that is not directly related to Internet governance but that cannot be ignored by those on the policy side of what we discuss here.

Geoff Berridge addresses the question "Why we need diplomats" here:

How to organize a remote participation hub for the #igf10

By now you probably know that the Internet Governance Forum - IGF has an annual meeting: last year it was in Egypt and this year (2010) it will be in Lithuania.

Perhaps you are not sure whether you will manage to go there, or maybe you are already sure that you have other commitments and cannot attend in person.

(Hint: if, by now, you have not yet found a sponsorship to cover your travel costs for the event, chances are very small of doing it now.

Do you want a fellowship for the Vilnius IGF meeting? Read this.

Hey friends! Hope you're doing fine.

I'm getting some dozens of emails, Facebook and Twitter messages asking for the same thing: fellowships for the IGF Vilnius meeting.

So instead of replying to each individual, I thought it would be more transparent and efficient to write a blog post.

One thing that I love about the Internet is that people I never corresponded with can reach me easily and ask for the fellowship

Dear Seiiti, thank you for the welcome. I´ve been only 3 years in the "Internet World" and I really need kind people in that technical World. I´m studying in order to get acquainted with all this. In my organization we are studying about the internet governance issues, and also I tried to go to Rio to weeks ago but unfortunately they didn´t give me financial help. I put the Diplo Fundation webpage into my Favorites and now that I´m part of that group it will be easier to be inside the news. I hope you see you soon.
Regards,
Sylvia

Seiiti, things are getting better. I have assumed new schedules at the Cabinet Secretariat of the Presidency, since May 2009. Its hectic here but am finding my space. Because of my new schedules, i hardly get to do IG stuff, am really missing that but..... trust you are ok. Keep me posted on issues.

Hi Seiiti,
I know that a small group of us have just entered into the Diplo community, and will be going through a learning process together. So it will probably be more useful for us to have our own group to help us get start. That and we wouldn't want to take over anyone else's group, would we! :)

I'll forward the link, though. Thanks for your help.

John
