Rafik, you can google ¨48 laws greene¨ for some results - unfortunately, the top results do not seem to be compliant with the current copyright legislation. Some bottom results have interesting blog reviews, though.

Hanane, thanks for the great tip! I like to complement the views of Greene with author Robert Cialdini.

In my interpretation, Greene took a journalistic/neutral approach just by describing different forms of power.

He does not actually encourage the reader to take a particular approach, though he gives his explanation on how to apply each law.

When some of the mentioned laws of power can be recognized as manipulative or abusive, there is retaliation. So it does not produce long-term effects.

Cialdini has a very interesting work in the field of influence and he encourages his readers to be ethical. Not only for the ethics per se (which is already enough justification) but also for two other factors:

1) those affected by the influence will see that the actions actually were meant to bring benefit for all parties, and are more likely to stick with the effects of infuence;

2) the self-image of the one using non-ethical influence will degrade over time as a result of his manipulative actions, and this will bring internal conflicts with very negative outcomes. Being an ethical practitioner of influence, on the other hand, boots one's self-image as someone who helps others and thus allows entitlement to positive outcomes.

So, after reading 48 Laws of Power (Greene), I encourage people to also check The Science of Influence (Cialdini).

I enjoy reading this corner, for more about power, there is a book that I have on my desk at the moment whenever I have a chance I take a glimpse. It's The 48 laws of power by Robert Greene, it's available online, anybody can download the PDF version. It's a good reference to develop leadership skills.

The topic of peak performance is quite appealing, can you shed more light on that. This is particularly important as one has to balance a numbers of tasks, at the same time one needs to achieve good performance.
