Keisha, the Kenya Government Open data portal launched on 8th July 2011 is up and running.

 

The goal of the Portal   is to make core government development, demographic, statistical and expenditure data available in a useful digital format for researchers, policymakers, ICT developers and the general public.

The Government of Kenya will launch a new Government Open Data Portal on July 8 that will for the first time make several large government datasets available to the general public in an easy to search and view format. Hello Keisha.  I have gone through your final research paper on our Google site. Excellent.  It will be interesting if we bring together issues related to Open Access to Data and Information, Real time data and linked data.  Particularly, researchers in India should go through the contents of your research paper and join the Open Access to Data.  Thank you.

Hi everyone, I have started this group because my research policy proposal is directly related to the use of data for development.  I am also looking to include case studies which highlight how open access to data is important for development.  Please see the call for proposal below for those who are interested.

Call for proposals: Open access advocacy campaigns

The EIFL-OA programme invites proposals for organising national or institutional open access advocacy campaigns to reach out to research communities. They particularly wish to involve scholarly and scientific researchers, universities and colleges, and university presses and society publishers.
