City-TLD Governance and Best Practices

With the first 35 or so city-TLDs being activated from the 2012 TLD application, this group will look into two areas:

o sharing planning, development, and operational best practices.

o The TLD's governance and its relationship with the global Internet governance processes.

A slow emergence

Here in New York City we're now issuing domain names on a daily basis. But there's no formal governance process. We have a temporary .nyc community advisory board, and there's talk of a more permanent solution. I imagine public reaction to abuses will shape the scope of the eventual governance process.
