Diplo Internet Governance Community

Hello everyone!

I am new here and I wonder if there is a way to import (preferably) selected posts from my blog into my blog space on this website. I have a sense that this is something that many people will be interested in, because having an established blog, there is very low chance someone will start blogging in additional space (I know that I won't :). So, does anyone have any ideas about how this can be done?

Thanks!

Dima, great question!

I think that, as a starting point, you can share the link to your blog with us. This will allow Community members to be aware and visit you.

Also, as a ¨teaser¨, you may want to go to your best blog posts and copy and paste them into the main page. This will give visibility and make people curious to know more and start following you.

So at this moment there is no automatic mechanism that can mirror your blog posts, but you are most welcome to do a copy-paste of it and publish on the Community space by clicking ¨add a blog post¨
Thank you, Seiiti!

I was under the impression that i did post a link somewhere in my profile, but i will check that again and I hope I will remember to post teasers to my future posts...

Are there plans to implement such a feature in the future?

Thanks!
Dima

Hi Dima,

On that part of your page here in Diplo Community, above "latest activity," there is a space that you are supposed to write a title for your page - you may write the link/URL for your blog (you may check my page to see what I meant). That's what I did. Plus, I used twitter feeds or an RSS feed aggregator for blog updates. In my facebook page, in the NOTES area, you may select the settings there and import your blog to FB. So everytime I have a new blog posts it is automatically placed in my FB Wall, and then published in my network/friends' FB homepage for latest activity. That's how some of my friends in my FB network get to read and comment on my blogs. (I would probably make adsense revenues for ads for my blog activity/traffic but I didn't...my blogs are not commercial in nature. I do it for the PASSION of writing).

Good luck!

Charity
Thank you, Charity!

I will check out your profile and I already aggregate my blog on Facebook (but that is a different story).

Cheers,
Dima
Hullo colleagues, Hi Dima,

Thanks Seiti and Charity for the insights. I did what you advised. I believe those options work. Utilise the RSS facility and it should be a great combination. A combination of the RSS feeds and the options mentioned by colleagues Seiti and Charity may do a wonder.
A pull and push combination to our external blog posts and to this portal's audience.

A click at our respective "My Page"s in this portal, I utilised the RSS facility to syndicate two most recent blog articles off my blog . I added the URL of my blog "Salam Taki" and RSS is wonderful.

However, the RSS facility is by default, positioned at the lower left of our "My Page". So drag the RSS feeds to just more prominence at this portal's "My Page". The RSS facility won’t permit self plagiarism. The RSS won’t substitute this portal’s blogging exercise. I blog on issues related to Internet Governance but to clarify check out my "My Page".
I tried to follow everybody's suggestions, but I am not completely sure that I understand it (or there were changes in the interface between now and the time you wrote this, guys).

The applications, however, hopefully help to solve the problem. It would be great to have an application that does just that, but I was not able to find one. Instead, I added a Twitter feed application that should post my Twitter updates and at the same time I set my blog to update my Twitter account every time I post something new. Hope it will work :)
It looks like there have been quite a few changes to the site. Thank you, Seiiti!

I just created and posted a widget (using widgetbox) that imports my blog here. It took about 10-15 minutes and it seems to work just fine. Thought this solution may interest others.
